Does this mean that the connection will enable Birkenhead pax to travel to Liverpool Airport as well as Manchester? If so it will make transport to either airport easier for those on the Wirral.

I thought it already was easy to get to the airport from the Wirral. Surely it's just a matter of joining the Merseyrail network and getting two trains to South Parkway, then the 501 to the airport.
You're right Jordan. It has been tried before and National Express have served the airport before too. Should be interesting to see how it goes this time. There are considerably more people wanting to travel to the airport now than the last time they were here. I don't like the idea of it serving central Manchester as Terravision already do that and this was a considerable factor in 'Airport By Coaches' failed attempt a few years back. I also hope it's an additional service to the one that already serves Leeds and not a route extension as this could add up to a hour on the journey time. Something that could see current National Express passengers deserting them in favour of the train.
Unfortunately, unlike the 'Airport by Coach' service OAP's won't be able to use their pass and will have to pay full fare as the new service serves an airport and is therefore falls outside of National Expresses 30% seniors discount too.
Lets hope it's a success.

Even though the message text is mostly about potential passengers being able to get easier access to Liverpool, the title implies that the service is about Liverpool/Wirral people getting to Manchester Airport more easily.

I see your point Viscount but unless the direct train service from Lime Street to Manchester Airport (MAN) has been withdraw MAN is even easier to get to from the Wirral than Liverpool Airport (LPL). It is however, a bonus for the people of South Liverpool flying out of MAN and like wise those from Stockport flying (LPL) but then again so was 'Airport By Coach' (ABC). One advantage that National Express (NE) has over ABC is that they should have more money to spend on marketing the service, lets hope they do and make good use it.
Jordan, you could always use your discount card on NE's direct service from Norton St to Picadilly then use the bus local service to MAN. Cancel that, as the direct train service would probably be cheaper. However, you could always use that strategy (i.e. direct to nearest city/town) to visit other airports.

Currently all buses are showing the loest fares £1.90 single Birkenhead to LJLA £3.60 single LJLA to MAN airport £7.20 single LJLA to Leeds Double for return. Plus 50p booking fee.
Not bad prices.

You call that "easy" especially if you getting on a bit age wise and dragging bags with you ?

You call that "easy" especially if you getting on a bit age wise and dragging bags with you ? Obviously, not flying Ryanair then. I think there should be a law against charging a booking fee especially if that's the only way you can get the cheapest fare advertised. In reality the fares quoted are, £2.40, £4.10, and £7.70. Still cheap though. It will be interesting to see what the fares are in a few months time.

The problem is when you are on the first departure of the day and have to be at LPJL for something like 0400. Merseyrail isn't running at that hour. (Not sure about the times of the tunnel bus though). This service from Birkenhead could be great news as far as I'm concerned.

For people living in The Wirral area actually getting to the Birkenhead pick up point wouldn`t be that easy and will add to the costs considerably for taxi use. The cost of taxi to and from Wirral to LPJL is obscene.

If National Express are like Megabus then you only get charged one booking fee per transaction so you could buy several journeys and only get charged 50p once. Therefore after the first journey it would be the advertised rate.
