Wizz are suffering problems with the new engines on their aircraft and I think they had already said there would be cuts across their routes.
Hopefully they might return once P/W sort out the problem.

Wizz Air will operate 15 flights a week to 7 destinations from Liverpool for Summer 2024 (down from 20 per week to 9 destinations in 2023). Cluj-Napoca will re-start on 1st April 2024. Bacau and Varna do not return. Tirana not listed either. Bucharest is reduced from 4 to 2 per week. All flights will operate twice weekly (except Gdansk which is 3 per week). Bucharest and Iasi now showing on the Wizzair app as three weekly for peak summer.

Budapest increases to 3x weekly for W23 from December, additional flight on a Monday. I’ve also spotted Bucharest initially drops from 4x weekly in W23 to 2x weekly in S24 however a Wednesday rotation is introduced mid-June resulting in 3x weekly for peak summer albeit on smaller aircraft this year. Iasi also has had a 3rd weekly flight introduced for S24 maintaining W23 frequency. Gdańsk got 4 weekly over peak Christmas season.

Warsaw route goes to 4 daily for summer. Maybe a response to Ryanair trying to move their ops to WAW

Warsaw route goes to 4 daily for summer. Maybe a response to Ryanair trying to move their ops to WAW 4*weekly. Also FR are back to Modlin for the summer at least.

Haha yes I did mean weekly. Ryanair have announced massive expansion today in Warsaw and they are still wanting to move the LPL service to WAW subject to getting the slots

Would be nice one day if Wizz was to open a small base here at LPL like 2-3 aircrafts. They have over 500 aircrafts on order one can only hope.

Its a shame the Varna route has been dropped, seemed to have been popular.

Wizz appear to be trimming UK routes rather than expanding.
Three BHX destinations and two LBA to be discontinued.

Wizz Air at Leeds-Bradford are a shadow of what they were at Doncaster Sheffield.

They haven't performed well at LBA, loads of flights diverted.

For some reason, WIZZ seem to be more affected than most by the P&W engine issues. Some time ago it was given as the reason for schedule cut backs.

The GTF does not tend to perform well in hot, dusty environments such as the Middle East and India where its time on the wing is not up to accepted standards. Wizz has expanded into Abu Dhabi with the NEO, which was affecting them, but should not have a great effect on European operations. However, Pratt continues to have issues delivering engines on time. Over time, the B word will have an impact on demand for flights between the UK and Eastern Europe.
