Ryanair to reduce capacity by 80% and could ground all aircraft if things don’t improve

Latest - Macron: SCHENGEN BORDERS CLOSED STARTING TOMORROW, no intra-Europe travel for next 30 days, a decision taken in coordination with other EU leaders. "I'm asking for sacrifices to stop the spread of the epidemic."

The aftermath of all this scares me... I have no doubt we will see businesses, airlines and maybe airports disappear... And then when everything tries to restart, will we see airlines concentrate efforts at specific airports....

I quite agree. here in France, the President announced last night that no business, small or large, will be allowed to go bankrupt because of the virus. Good intentions. I hope its not too big a commitment.

Spain imposes a complete lockdown. Citizens, will be able to leave their home only to buy food and drugs Except for the British morons in Benidorm boozing and partying in the streets.

We can’t stop illegal immigrants ,how can we stop a virus. It is a bit smaller but does it have Greenpeace to help it along. Cynical? Yes.

Sitting in the sun on my back step in SW France, next week a limited number of people are going to work to keep the flight line aircraft in FRC maintenance two days per week (could change though). FAL is shut (up until now). You and your families stay safe.

From photos on the web site, and reports, it seems that private flying is very much still up and running in UK. Presumably the flying schools too.
Here if France, the blanket ban on actually being outside with good reason has taken its toll on that kind of thing, All flying clubs and schools have closed their doors ufn.
The FFA (Federation Francaise Aernautique ) a bit like AOPA, is negotiating with the DGAC to enable a scheme to allow an extension of flying experience and medicals. The DGAC are minded to agree this.
At a local level, the prefecture of the Vendée has given individual pilots permission to fly local circuits for the purpose of maintaining experience and the purpose of keeping engines turning. All such flights must be pilot only.
Just for info, membership of the FFA is more or less obligatory for flying club members and advisory for most others. Apart from the strong relationship with the DGAC, membership gives access to an insurance which gets you out of trouble if you land away with mechanical trouble, weather or pilot incapacity. Pilot and passengers are repatriated to intended destination in France and the pilot gets expenses to return to the aeroplane eventually. Good peace of mind and a good safety measure.

a lot of us airport workers had a chat with unions today by the business check in entrance at far end, said the airport could close in a few weeks and stay closed till late june.
it’s all could not will, but it’s very sad times, thankfully i have some money saved in bank and could go till end of june with no work but hopefully it all fires back up again in july.
