Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and liverpool University are playing big parts in the research of this virus. They are indeed, well done them. The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is one of the finest in its' field. I'm sure if it was based in London, we'd hear a lot more about it. It may possibly have saved my life when I was 18. I got a free ticket to Rio, but was offloaded in Manaus on the way home. I didn't even know what malaria was in those days, so I hadn't taken any precautions and I apparently contracted it. The local doctor, who had worked at the LSTM, quickly took a blood sample and sent it off. Within 24 hours I was told to self-isolate, as the phrase now has it. My mother was convinced I was going to die, but the doctor said that because I was fit and healthy, I would make a full recovery. Ten very unpleasant days swiftly followed until I eventually hit the 'peak' at which point I recovered quickly. Having been through that, I respect the coronavirus. All power to those who are trying to find a cure.

Total speculation on my behalf at this stage. A RAF C-130J Hercules ZH889 did a trial landing, back track and take off at LCY last night. Bearing in mind that LCY is next to the NHS Nightingale hospital (Excel centre) it may be military flights only from now.

Looks like the Airport is scaling back operations (unsurprisingly) initially until the end of April. Revised operating hours 06:00 - 22:00 UTC (07:00-23:00 BST). With some reductions in fire cover during operational hours too.

Full April NOTAMS now available From these it looks as though Tuesdays and Thursdays will be the busiest’ days with fire cover in three blocks through these days. Presumably these are covering the Loganair and Wizzair services.

I've seen on a Manchester Airport Facebook page that their operating hours are being altered to arrivals 06:00hrs to 16:00hrs M to F and departures 08:00hrs to 16:00hrs M to F.
