I think, what it does show is that Liverpool under performs in market share between North West England and Dublin compared to the Belfast Market.

All of which in turn goes to illustrate that competition between airlines on the same route (especially when the surface transport is provided by sea ferry) stimulates greater traffic rather than simply splitting the existing passenger numbers. Which brings us around in a neat circle to welcome Emerald as a second operator on the LPL-DUB route, even if the competition is not on a 'even playing-field', jets v turboprops.

Wasn't there a problem when last on the route with luggage being left behind as the smaller Stobart service which took over from mainline EI couldn't take the amount of luggage required by passengers going onward to the US. If its Emerald now will the same problem happen?

Can’t say I had heard of that happening and doesn’t seem to have cropped up as an issue on any of the other routes Emerald is operating?

Emerald operate 4 of the 6 daily flights from Manchester to Dublin and there have been no baggage problems.

Because no flight times have been released yet, but fares have, and therefore I presume no booking have been received, we have a curious insight on this subject. On the period from April to May I selected, I saw fares from around £25 to around £93, one way, and the date/day differences are seemingly random, so I wonder what drives this basic fare structure?

It is a way of judging demand. The more who want to fly on a particular day the higher the price. Of course the lower the interest the cheaper the fare. Ryanair will also me monitoring prices so that they can adjust their fares and schedules
