I did wonder why Ryanair ramped up the Liverpool to Dublin frequency for the summer. With up to 7 flights a day on some days.

You can search for Aer Lingus flights between Liverpool and Dublin on the EI website. Headline prices appear but no flight times.

Interesting. As stated, the dates and prices are on the website but no times. Some USA connections listed too. Perhaps somebody in IAG wants a slice of the business via Iceland. Looks like somebody has let the cat out of the bag a bit too early, or its a bus to connect at Manchester. (Only joking...I hope. !!)

With I understand the ability to clear US immigration in Dublin this should be a winner now Aer Lingus are getting bigger across the Atlantic. Even with a change in Dublin the time saving of avoiding US immigration will probably equal things out. Now with return of Wideroe and aer lingus all we need is KLM back to make for an epic year.

Last few times I've entered the US I've waited no more than 10 mins or so in the immigration line. Longest I've ever waited is probably 30 mins. A connection in Dublin will add on approx 2hrs to the journey compared to a direct flight. So I struggle to see the selling point of preclearence. Maybe I've just been lucky.
I'm usually very positive about new services. But I think Dublin is already well served by ryanair (and always will be), and I think this could cannibalise the Keflavik route. It would be a shame to lose that.

Highfly you haVe had very different experiences to me. Last time I flew to US I think it was Orlando Jan2020 it took nearly 3 hours to get through.

highfly, with the USA its difficult to determine. I had a connection in Washington with 2.1/2 hours connection time. If several pax never pushed over the barriers to jump the queue (we joined them) we would have missed our connection. Its a bizarre situation where your bags are offloaded on connecting flights through security again and put back on the connecting flight. A nightmare, unless you clear US immigration at Dublin. (Obviously it is quicker if there are no connecting flights). Changing at Dublin could take 2 hours as you say, but you also have to add in the Journey time to Manchester, factoring in any delays on the motorway and having to check in earlier than in LPL, so I don't think that is much of a difference, if any. I think that this complements FlyPlay and Lufthansa, offering additional destinations in the USA and Canada and if daily more connectivity. I'm going to Syracuse later in the year. I will probably use the Flyplay service to New York State or Boston and drive but I also have the option of Hartford with Aer Lingus (all about 4 hours drive) or connecting at New York with Aer Lingus for a flight to Syracuse (The last option though is very expensive). However it now gives me a greater choice as I can now go on any day of the week rather than relying just Monday/Friday. I could even use both airlines. But I don't need to bother with the hassle of travelling to other airports when I can do so from LPL. Perhaps more importantly it opens up LPL from numerous airports across the USA which will now provide connections, which you can not do with Flyplay.

A number of the destinations offered via Dublin aren’t offered either direct from Manchester or by Play. Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Seattle are all grrat one-stop additions from Liverpool and as pointed out the pre-clearance option at Dublin a bonus.

One stop to Miami for the cruise market could be a big winner as well, cruise bookings are at an all time high.
