Yes, but how do they judge demand if there are no flights to book, therefore no booking, therefore no confirmed interest? Are they looking at enquiry hits on the booking engine or looking at what is happening at a nearby city such as Manchester, or even total network demand?

Exactly There must be data somewhere which converts enquiries into actual bookings so the airline can use this in judging demand and price. Remember Ryanair will be watching too. Watch how much change happens to their fares and frequencies when the full details are released.

Just spotted that. Nice touch incorporating the original Aer Lingus flight numbers, but slightly odd / frustrating that flights are all in the afternoon. Suggests I guess that they are targeting connecting passengers to the US?

Yes, I hadn’t realised how many later afternoon departures EI have from Dublin to the USA.

This is of course very good news so why is it,might I ask there has been no press release from the Airport and not a peep as of a few minutes ago on the Aitport Web Site? I did see a mention in the on line version of The Echo. Should not somebody be shouting this from the rooftops?

Maybe the Liverpool Airport / EI press release is next week. The only things I've seen online are from SeanM

Does anyone know if this is still happening or did Ryanair scare them off with the 6 departures to Dublin on some days? Though there was some press coverage I don’t believe anything from Aer Lingus or the Airport officially?

Still bookable. Perhaps Aer Lingus is confident that selling at most 156 seats a day in each direction doesn’t need much advertising, or maybe their efforts are going into travel agents?

This was sent to media by Aer Lingus/Emerald in February. Dublin, 8th February 2023 – Emerald Airlines, exclusive operator of Aer Lingus Regional services announces it is commencing a year-round service from Liverpool to Dublin. Commencing 27th April, the Liverpool-Dublin service will operate 11 times per week with a double daily service Monday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday, offering ideal connections onto Aer Lingus flights to North America via Dublin Tickets are on sale now at www.aerlingus.com Onward flight connections to New York JFK, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington DC will be available; with the lunchtime flight from Liverpool enabling convenient transfer times for passengers at Dublin Airport. Dublin Airport also offers its passengers its US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance process which allows Aer Lingus passengers the opportunity to clear US and immigration and customs before departing to the US. Ireland is currently the only European country to offer this facility, meaning that customers travelling to the US via Ireland are treated as domestic arriving passengers. Commenting on the announcement, Ciarán Smith, Head of Commercial at Emerald Airlines said: ”Today’s announcement is a much-anticipated one and will no doubt be warmly welcomed by passengers travelling for both business and travel pleasure purposes. The new Liverpool-Dublin service will provide those planning a trip with more choice and convenient flight times to suit their schedule. We believe that we can offer the region both great value flights to Dublin but also access to one of the fastest growing transatlantic gateways in Europe.” With more flights and more choice for the travelling public, the airline is progressively bolstering its 2023 schedule, with over 2.5 million seats on sale, across 30 routes and 20 destinations in Ireland, UK, France and Channel Islands.

That's a very interesting press release dated 8th February. It seems the first we saw it on this forum at the end of February. Normally somebody on here would pick it up straight away. Thanks for posting it.
