It is sad that the Burger King viewing area has now gone as far as the general public are concerned.

Passed through on Thursday on the way to BCN for long weekend. Still very much a building site but already the new search comb area is a vast improvement on the old one and should be great once all of the works are complete. Still a few teething problems as staff get used to their new working environment and new equipment (and I guess there were quite a lot of new staff on too).
The remainder of level three is coming along well. The new walk through duty free is open and is much larger than the old one. Also tried out the new Frankie & Benny's restaurant - not bad at all and something the airport has been lacking IMHO.
Outbound flight was completely full, return had about 10 empty seats.
Arrivals was completed quickly though the area of the arrivals corridor underneath the new link into the hangar is a bit of a mess and it looks (and smells) as though there have been some water ingress. Still, it will all be worth it in the end!!!

Judging by the artists impressions, I presume you enter the new search area via a new set of stairs at the end of the terminal, so what will happen to the bridge and escalators currently used. Will they be taken down or used for other purposes.

The favourite option is a new eating area.

The existing bridge is being used for access to the Pass Office, easyJet crew room and Cavern Suite. The bridge has been rumoured to have a new cafe or coffee bar on it and John Lennon's statue is being moved down stairs to the concourse ( this will please those who like to have their picture taken by it!) The stairs and escalator up to level 3 have been blocked off and are being removed. The floor void will be filled in, this will give better access to the prayer room which at the moment is only accessable via the kitchen corridor that used to be behind the previous Village Restaurant. Whether they will be able to fit more shops in I do not know. The lifts adjacent the outsize baggage are now restricted to levels 1 & 2. The existing stairs and escalators from the main concourse which are at the moment blocked off will remain blocked off until passengers get used to going to the other end of the terminal for departures, if they had of been left open there probably would have been chaos on the bridge!

Fine when i used it on the 8th of July on the early rush, sure there was a queue but plenty of staff very helpful and we wern't kept waiting for long. I've heard Manchesters being complained about too recently and Blackpool well with so few flights you can only hope it would be a breeze but lets face it no one likes security so its always going to be an issue, vast improvement in my opinion though.

The New security area is a complete knightmare, cattle are treated in a better way, and No The fast lane is not open, and security staff just laugh at you when you show them pre paid tickets that you have bought and want to use,and just let you know that you've wasted your money. Save yourself the hassle and fly from Manchester or Blackpool,or even more go and fly from Leeds alot less hassle than Liverpool Joke Lennon Airport.. (sorry if this upsets certain people speaking against this airport, but its a forum and just letting people know). Never fly from here again. Hmmm. What makes me think you have not flown from Liverpool? Fast lane - if its not open then then keep the ticket for another occasion. BLK/MAN/LBA - they have either there own fast track/development fee/dearer car park charges than Liverpool.

Two things from the last post.
What airline is that?
The Fast Track has been suspended as per airport website (uploaded 8th July).

Andyjb,
There is absolutely no problem in speaking your mind on this section, however there will only be three responses:
1. Members will post in agreement because they like a good moan, wether or not they have had recent experience of the facilities
2. Members will post in defence because they don't like adverse comment, wether or not they have had recent experience of the facilities (although often the most enthusiastic supporters are those who do use the Airport frequently).
3. Nothing at all will change, because you are moaning to the wrong people. This is not an airport management website.
You imply you are from within the industry, so why expect change when you complain to those outside of it?
Liverpool Airport is in a period of major change, both in terms of internal layout and of senior management. While quality and conduct of staff in security is initially a matter for the providing company, overall passenger experience for the customer should be of major concern for the new Airport management, providing you actually contact them, not moan to aviation enthusiasts (whose needs have been not been listened to, by excluding us from airside apron views during the interior redesign).

It appears that Andyjb has not replied to the posts above and it appears that his posts have been 'withdrawn'. Its also very evident he was mischief making too.
I would have liked him to tell us the answer to my question 'What airline is that?'.
The only airline to complain about security was easyjet and that came out in the local media months, it is thought, after the airline manager complained to the airport. The complaint was resolved when other airline managers inspected the security situation early one morning and were very happy with it. All of this was when the OLD security process was in place.
Its a matter of public record that all airlines at LPL were kept informed concerning the set up of the NEW process and NO airlines were unhappy with the state of affairs regarding the new area.

time taken from joining the back of the security queue to standing next to travelex was 25 minutes today.
still not as quick as i had hoped for but a more comfortable queuing experience.
its a pity they cant (/wont?) staff it so that all of the arches and scanners are in use.

Now that the new departure facilities have been up and running for a while - does anyone have any observations about how things are running? Also, when do they start work on the arrivals facilities? When is it slated to be completed by? Can't come a moment too soon - it is a real embarassment. Thanks.
